Your first escape room: five tips

Never done one? Here is what our game masters tell every first team at the door.

A team of four first-timers listening to a smiling game master in a colourful lobby

Every week a team walks in who has never done an escape room, and every week one of them asks the same thing: “What if we’re bad at it?” Nobody is. Here is what we tell them.

Say everything out loud

The number you just found means nothing to you and everything to the person by the other lock. Call it out.

Put found things in one place

Keys, cards, odd objects: one table, one pile. Half of all stuck teams are stuck because a key is in someone’s pocket.

Never force anything

If it needs force, it isn’t the answer. Everything in our rooms opens with a code, a key or a clever idea.

Ask for a hint early

Hints are part of the game, not a defeat. Three are free, and a hint at minute twenty saves you minute fifty.

Start with The Archive or The Observatory

Both are made for a first game. Then come back for the vault.

Ask the game masters

Rooms, booking, groups and vouchers

Hi! Ask us which room suits your team, how hard they are, group bookings, vouchers or how to find the blue door.
