To hint or not to hint
What our game masters see from the control room, and when they decide to help.

Behind every room is a game master watching five screens, listening to every word and deciding, all game long, whether to step in.
The rule of three minutes
If a team has stood still on one puzzle for three minutes, they will not solve it by standing still for four. That is when a gentle nudge appears on the screen.
Hints that don’t give it away
A good hint points at the right shelf, not the right answer. “Have you looked at the dates?” is better than “The code is 1987.”
When we don’t help
When a team is close, and loud, and enjoying it. Some of the best minutes in a game are the ones where everybody is shouting at once.
